Day 0: Arrival Day
Upon arrival in Tanzania, you will be welcomed by a Leiyos Safari representative. This safari is ideal for travelers arriving from Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam, or Morogoro. Access to Nyerere National Park can be arranged by road transfer or scheduled charter flight depending on your preferred safari package.
Depending on your arrival schedule, overnight accommodation can be arranged before the safari begins the following day.
Day 1: Transfer to Nyerere National Park and Sunset Boat Safari
After breakfast, travel to Nyerere National Park and arrive at your lodge or camp in time for lunch.
In the afternoon, embark on a boat safari along the Rufiji River, one of the highlights of any Selous safari experience. Cruise through channels and lagoons while observing hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and a variety of bird species along the riverbanks.
The late afternoon light provides excellent photographic opportunities as wildlife gathers near the water. Return to camp at sunset for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Nyerere National Park
After an early breakfast, depart for a full-day game drive in Nyerere National Park. Explore the park’s diverse habitats, including open plains, woodlands, river systems, and seasonal lakes.
Nyerere is home to impressive populations of elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, lions, leopards, hyenas, and the endangered African wild dog. Your guide will search for wildlife while sharing insights into the park’s unique ecosystem.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush before continuing your afternoon game drive.
Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Walking Safari and Return
Rise early for a guided walking safari accompanied by an armed ranger. Walking safaris provide a completely different perspective of the African wilderness, allowing you to appreciate animal tracks, birdlife, vegetation, and smaller species often missed during game drives.
Learn about the intricate relationships within the ecosystem while experiencing the excitement of exploring the bush on foot.
After breakfast, return to the lodge before beginning your journey back to Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam, or Morogoro according to your travel arrangements.

Departure Day
Depending on your onward travel plans, departures can be arranged via Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam, or Morogoro. International travelers can connect through Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) in Dar es Salaam.
